CAH153

CAH153 is an intermediate-maturing maize hybrid bred for the tropical lowlands of South Asia. This high-yielding, yellow-kernel maize hybrid performs well under drought conditions, and has tolerance to TLB, FSR and BLSB.   General Information
  Target Region South Asia
  Adaptation/Agroecological zone Tropical Lowland
  Type of product Single-cross Hybrid
  Year first announced 2016

      Kernel Characteristics
Grain Yield   Kernel color Yellow
Grain yield (opt.) 10.18 t/ha   Kernel texture Semi-dent
Grain yield under drought stress (DT) 4.60 t/ha
Grain yield random stress (RS) 3.65 t/ha   Biotic Stress Performance
Fusarium stalk rot (FSR) (AI) (1-9) 6.8
Agronomic Characteristics   Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) (AI) (1-9) 5.5
50% anthesis 51.4 Days   Banded leaf and sheath blight (BLSB) (AI) (1-9) 5.6
Anthesis-silking interval  1.7 Days   Diseases are scored on a 1-9 scale, where 1 = Highly resistant; 5 = Tolerant; 9 = Highly susceptible.
Ear height  83.2 cm
Plant height  185.0 cm
Ears per plant 0.95   Seed Production Characteristics
Bad husk cover 4.5%   Female parent yield 3.4 t/ha
Ear aspect (1-5) 2.1   Male parent yield 2.8 t/ha
Plant aspect (1-5) 2.3   Nicking  3 days
Plant and ear aspects are scored on 1-5 scale, where 1 = desirable and 5 = undesirable characteristics
  Comments
Product information is based on data from the CIMMYT South Asia 2020 Regional Trial (SAWLDT) and 2021 regional on-farm trials (ROFT 2021-1A). Actual performance will vary depending on a number of agronomic and environmental factors.
