CKMLN150076

This hybrid is from the first generation of MLN-tolerant maize hybrids to come out of CIMMYT's eastern Africa product pipeline 1A (EA-PP1B). This pipeline primarily focuses on developing high-yielding, early maturing maize varieties with white grain, drought tolerance, NUE, and resistance to GLS, TLB, MSV, ear rots, and MLN, that are suitable for food use in tropical, rainfed, dry, mid-altitude areas in eastern Africa and similar agroecologies.    General Information
  Adaptation/Agroecological zone 1000 - 1600 masl
  Type of product Three-way cross hybrid
  Year first announced 2017

  Grain Characteristics
  Grain color White
  Grain texture Semi dent

Grain Yield   Biotic Stress Performance
Grain yield under optimum conditions 5.8 t/ha   Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) (1-9) 2.8
Grain yield under MLN artificial Inoculation 6.4 t/ha   Grey leaf spot (GLS) (1-9) 6.2
      Maize lethal necrosis (MLN) under art. inoc. (1-9) 3.0
Agronomic Characteristics   Ear rots 6.4%
Maturity 118 DAP   Diseases were originally scored on a 1-5 scale but have been converted here to a 1-9 scale, where 1 = Highly resistant; 5 = Tolerant; 9 = Highly susceptible.

Ear height 109.4 cm
Bad husk cover 16.5%   Comments
Anthesis-silking interval 0.0 Days   Product information is based on data from various trials conducted by CIMMYT in eastern Africa in 2016.

Abbreviations:
art. inoc. = artificial inoculation
DAP = days after planting
GLS = Grey Leaf Spot
masl = meters above sea level
MLN = Maize Lethal Necrosis
TLB = Turcicum Leaf Blight
Ear aspect (1-5) 2.7
