CZH15130Q

CZH15130Q is a high-yielding, early-maturing, nutritious maize hybrid with enhanced protein content, white grain, that is drought tolerant, and resistant to GLS, rust, and TLB, bred for food/feed use in tropical, rainfed, dry/wet mid-altitude and lowland ecologies in southern Africa and similar agroecologies. Quality Protein Maize (QPM) is an affordable option for alleviating protein malnutrition and reducing animal feed costs. QPM looks and tastes the same as normal maize but contains higher levels of the essential amino acids lysine and tryptophan. Eating QPM is especially beneficial for children who survive on a maize-dominated diet.    General Information
  Target region Southern Africa
  Adaptation/Agroecological zone < 1800 masl
Type of product Three-way cross hybrid
  Year first announced 2016

  Grain Characteristics
  Grain color White
  Grain texture Semi-dent

  Biotic Stress Performance
Grey leaf spot (GLS) (1-9)* 4.8
  Common rust (P. sorg) (1-9)* 1.0
Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) (1-9)* 1.4
Grain Yield   *Diseases are scored on a 1-9 scale, where 1 = Highly resistant; 5 = Tolerant; 9 = Highly susceptible.
Grain yield under opt 7.42 t/ha
Grain yield under low N stress 2.78 t/ha
Grain yield under random stress 3.82 t/ha   Comments
Grain yield under low pH stress 4.48 t/ha   Product information is based on data from CIMMYT southern Africa 2016 regional trial (ADVQPM16). Actual performance will vary depending on a number of agronomic and environmental factors.
